    Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden

    This garden was built on the former site of the Tokyo residence of the Naito Clan, rulers of Takato Domain. It is the most famous example of a modern Western-style garden from the Meiji era.

  4. About 1 minute on foot foot About 60 meters Travel Tips From the "Shinjuku Gyoen" bus stop, take the Shinjuku WE Bus to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Get off at the "Shinjuku Washington Hotel" bus stop and proceed to the building. You will arrive at the 2nd floor. Take the stairs or the escalator/elevator inside Building No. 1 down to the 1st floor and then take the observatory elevator up. (Only the stairs are available on weekdays after 6:45 PM and on weekends/holidays as the 2nd floor is closed). The Shinjuku WE Bus route runs from around 10 AM to 6 PM. There are some changes to the route on Sundays and holidays. Check the timetable.

    Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Observation Decks

    Situated at a height of 202 meters, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building’s observation decks are free and open to the public. Both decks offer sweeping, spectacular views of Japan’s capital.

    Since before the Edo period, this has been known as the main shrine for Shinjuku’s guardian deities. It is famous for its Tori-no-ichi Festival in November.
