  2. About 4 minutes on foot foot About 200 meters Travel Tips If starting from Tokyo Metro Meiji-jingumae Station, the smoothest route is to take the elevator near Exit 2 up to the ground level. Proceed along a flat sidewalk to Yoyogi Park.

    Yoyogi Park

    After part of this area was used as the athletes’ village for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, it was redeveloped and reopened as a public park. The park’s lush green spaces seem to exist in a separate world from the bustling metropolis that surrounds them.

    The park has many benches. The paths are wide and mostly flat. The wheelchair-accessible restroom directly inside the Harajuku Gate has audio assistance.

About 11 minutes on foot foot About 650 meters Travel Tips If you enter Takeshita-dori Street from the front side of JR Harajuku Station's Takeshita Exit, there is a steep downhill slope and wheelchair users will need assistance. Instead, it is recommended that wheelchair users go down Omotesando and enter Takeshita-dori Street from Meiji-dori Avenue. For the smoothest route from Yoyogi Park to Omotesando, cross at the traffic light in front of the Omotesando Exit of JR Harajuku Station.

    Takeshita-dori Street

    Crammed with fashion boutiques popular among teens, this street extends for about 350 meters from Harajuku Station toward Meiji-dori Avenue. It becomes packed with visitors on weekends and holidays.

    The entrance to Takeshita-dori Street by the Takeshita Exit of JR Harajuku Station is a steep slope, so entering from the Meiji-dori Avenue side is recommended. Watch out for crowds on weekends and holidays.

  6. About 11 minutes on foot foot About 630 meters Travel Tips Cross Meiji-dori Avenue and proceed along Harajuku-dori East. Watch out for cars as there is no guardrail.

  7. Spot3 Ura-Harajuku/Omotesando About 1 hour

    Ura-Harajuku/Omotesando

    Trendy youth-oriented shops line “Cat Street” and other smaller backstreets. Meanwhile, many luxury brands have stores along Omotesando, the main approach to Meiji Jingu Shrine.

    Watch out for vehicle traffic in some parts of Ura-Harajuku on weekdays. There are some steep inclines, like the slope from Ura-Harajuku to Omotesando. Wheelchair users will need to be careful.

  8. On foot foot Travel Tips There is a steep slope where North Cat Street meets Omotesando. Since Omotesando has a gradual but long uphill incline, manual wheelchair users will be more comfortable with assistance.

    This shopping complex stretches for approximately 250 meters along Omotesando Avenue. Japanese and international brand-name stores occupy the B3 level to the 3rd floor. The 4th floor and above is residential space.
